KANT uses a controlled vocabulary and grammar for each source language, and explicit yet focused semantic models for each technical domain to achieve very high accuracy in translation.

The current system, Pangloss Mark III, differs from all other MT systems because it employs not a single translation engine but a set of several engines (a Knowledge Based system, an Example Based system and a Lexical Transfer system) whose results are integrated for the best overall output.

After the successful evaluation of the research prototype (Forschungsprototyp) on October 24, 1996, in Munich, the project ontinued into its second phase until the year 2000.
